The Importance of Choosing the Perfect Shampoo for Your Pooch
You could be tempted to use human-grade shampoo on your dog for the sake of convenience. The challenge is, human-grade shampoo isn't formulated for use on anything other than your scalp and hair. Dogs have special hair and skin needs that require shampoos and conditioners with specific formulations such as dry skin relief, insect-repelling properties, or even dry coat cleansers for the times when you can't give your dog a full bath.
Consider the idea your dog is highly likely to roll in the garbage, get into a tangle with a skunk, get fleas or ticks, get dry, scratchy spots, and it rapidly becomes obvious why you have to have coat products that are developed to tackle these issues. Human-grade shampoo won't have the correct ingredients to de-scent, treat dryness, or deal with unwanted hitchhikers. We at The Hydrant Pet Center sell a full range of dog grooming products that satisfy your needs to keep your dog smelling nice and looking fantastic.
Use the Appropriate Brushes and Combs for Your Dog's Coat
Dog coats come in a range of textures with hair follicles varying from pin straight to tight curls. Several dogs grow dense undercoats while others have almost no undercoat at all. All coats demand using the best type of brush to decrease pulling out healthy hair and stop skin damage. Your dog may appreciate a good scratching with the brush, or they may be thin-skinned and need the lightest of touches. If you're uncertain of what types of brushes are best for the job, don't hesitate to ask our pros at The Hydrant Pet Center in Highland Stop in or give us a call at (219) 923-3649 number] to discuss the kind of coat and specific issues your dog has. We'll show you what brushes and combs are the very best for your dog.
The Hydrant is a great place. They have a great selection of food and products for your babies plus the groomers are the best. Stephanie is wonderful! She has taken exceptional care of my boys (Toby and tanner) for years. I so appreciate the loving care and patience she has given to my now senior fur baby!
This places always friendly super nice and if you have a animal aggressive dog such as myself they take special care as well you don't need an appointment typically to get the nails clipped but I recommend 2 weeks in advance for your grooming appointment Amazing customer service
They did return my call promptly about grooming (they do groom cats). Unfortunately my cat passed before I could get her in. I have heard great things about them. I think the groomer is Monday thru Thursday but call first, they will call you back 🙂.
