After 27 years as a professional groomer and 23 years in business, I’ve seen how powerful this profession can be. Grooming isn’t just a service — it’s a skilled trade that can truly change someone’s life.
A Professional Path With Purpose
Dog grooming requires technical ability, safety knowledge, an understanding of canine anatomy, and the skill to read behavior. Groomers build trust with pets and with the families who love them.
When done well, grooming is creative, hands-on work that allows you to build something of your own. Hydrant Pet Center’s Dog Grooming Academy is state-certified and designed for adults who want to learn the craft the right way — with structure, supervision, and real-world experience.

Who Is the Academy For?
We welcome students who are ready for a career change, young adults seeking a non-college path, or parents looking for meaningful, flexible work.
You don’t need previous grooming experience. You do need commitment, compassion, and a willingness to learn.
Real Training in a Real Salon
Students train inside a fully operating grooming salon from day one. This isn’t a classroom disconnected from reality — it’s hands-on learning in a professional environment.
You’ll learn safe handling techniques, bathing and drying methods, haircut foundations, tool knowledge, client communication, and time management. Most importantly, you’ll learn how to work confidently and safely with dogs.
We don’t rush the process. We teach it the right way.
